This Season I had the absolute honour of hosting German artist’s Manic Moth and Leon Balmes,
I had followed Manic Moths incredible styling and jewellery creations for some time now having had email correspondence i could tell from our mutual love of art, pagan culture and sense of humour we would get on great i invited them to come visit me so we could do some shoots on sacred ancient landscapes.
They both liked my designs and my ethical approach to fashion and based on this decided to come to Ireland to do the shoot.
Having booked dates with Manic moth and Leon it was of great co-incidence that Kate Bean photography contacted me to see if i would be interested in doing a shoot, I informed her of the artist collaboration and she was very excited to be involved.
I had wanted to Shoot with Kate Bean for sometime she has a incredible eye for detail and a dreamy atmosphere to her work.
We decided to Shoot in the Burren National Park as it’s a place of history and landscape which provides no shortage of inspiration, The Bright Autumn colours and rugged landscape I felt would provide the perfect setting. For the styling for this shoot we chose lighter colours in my designs to provide a white wiccan theme. My designs are made from Wool. non dyed cotton and Jute fabrics also linen, these all blend perfectly with the pure untouched nature of the national park.
When the whole team came together on the Day it was Exciting and vibrant atmosphere everyone was buzzing and enthusiastic to give it there all, despite the cold and wet weather conditions which actually created the perfect moody skies and lighting we had hoped for.
I was delighted to have Manic Moth wearing many of my new Designs in the shoot and they Styled perfectly with her handmade designer Vespermoth Jewellery.
Pictured above she is modelling my new Caellich cardigan with celtic knotwork design embroidery, Leon also got to model many of my ne mens designs including the new variety woven shawls.
we had to take regular breaks so as not to get weighed down by the rain,
This provided us with lots of opportunities for changing location, taking in the sites and having cups of tea, which all great especially with a crew of wonderful people to share the expereince with. We enjoyed lunch at the Burren Perfumery Cafe which serves herbal teas made from local wild flowers and herbs.
Our final round of shots took place at the ancient Site of Temple cronan a 12th-century church. T In the churchyard there are two Cumbachs for bones, according to tradition built by St Cronan They are constructed from large flagstones, so placed as to meet at the top similar to a roof. West of the church is the holy well,
For this shoot Manic Moth Styled celtic fusion folk style dress with some white patterned tights and wool boot cuffs, the overall style and unique earthy setting came together perfectly.
Kate bean photography is very gifted in her ability to capture the right shot, Manic Moth and Leons relaxed and playful attitude also makes them gifted models as well as a pleasure to spend time with.
It was a Dream to Style Leon in my designs, My New mens creations have been inspired by the more natural and earthy soul and many of the styles have a viking inspiration in a more modern and contemporary style, Leons personal aesthetic fits just that so the designs really do look fantastic on him.
We had a fantastic day of collaboration and the results were even more satisfying.
It’s a great day when you can create art and enjoy the process also.
