Autumn Equinox Rituals
The Autumn Equinox signifies a profound shift in both our internal and external worlds. Now, our daylight and our night are equal in length and we stare directly into the long night season that awaits us. Historically, this day would be used to celebrate the final harvest after a long summer of work. At Celtic Fusion, we are interested in promoting ancient ways of life and encouraging all of us to embrace traditions that have been with us since time immemorial. This is even true of our own creative process. Our summer has been spent finalizing our new collection and recently we have finally been able to share all the hard work with all of you! This Autumn will be spent dreaming up more designs and visions for the future - with the hopes that the cycle will start all over again.
We have little knowledge of how exactly the Autumn Equinox was observed by our ancestors but the placement of sacred stone sites suggests that it was absolutely a day of significance. In our personal lives, now is a time to set intentions as the wheel of the year comes to a close. The Autumn and Winter months provide us with the introspection that we need to help see our goals through in the Spring and Summer. Some fun ways to welcome this shift include:
Preparing an altar with offerings of things you are grateful for and/or freshly harvested fruits and vegetables.
Feasting with loved ones
Spending time outside, paying attention to the changes you see occurring in the world around you
Look into local conservation efforts and see if you can volunteer - believe it or not, Autumn is the best time for planting trees!
This is no ‘right’ way to observe the Equinox, of course. Most importantly, now is a time to meditate on the people in our lives we are grateful for. A harvest with many hands is light work and a dark season with people we love can make all the difference. We at Celtic Fusion are grateful for all of you who share your passion with us and make our work a possibility. Happy Autumn Equinox!
